2013/14 COURSEWORK SCHEDULE

A2 Advanced Portfolio 2013-2014

 
29th August– 20th December 2013.

It is vital that blogs are kept up to date and that progress is posted regularly. Screen grabs of the
creative process or other updates (evidence of students ‘creating the work’) must be included as
work is being completed.


Thursday 29th August – Friday 6th September

Carrying out research and planning.
 
To include:
  • Submit detailed analysis of music videos (at least 3) including conventions and genre
  • Categories e.g. illustration, amplification and disjuncture. (this was set as summer homework). Any students not completing work to be place on intervention list. 
  • Decide on genre/song of music video
  • Preparation of a 25 word pitch to include:
  • Mood boards (e.g. animoto)
  • Decide on band/artist name and create biography 
  • Post photos of band members alongside existing bands/ artists as exemplars
  • Examples of other texts
  • Audience profile and conduct market research (use uktribes.co.uk)
  • Set up twitter feed for your fictitious band

Teachers to regularly check and leave comments on blogs as part of rough draft marking of R&P.


Monday 9th September – Friday 13th September
  • Lessons to pitch idea to class and receive feedback
  • Evaluate class feedback (will be essential for your evaluation)
  • Refine idea and submit to teacher for feedback

Monday 16th September – Friday 27th September
  • Comprehensive storyboard of your music video
  • Construct and post animatic onto blog
  • Schedule list
  • Consider representations in your music video (who/what, why, where, how)
  • Apply relevant narrative theorists to your music video
  • Post shots of prospective video locations
  • Write risk assessment
  • No Filming until all above elements have been completed and signed off by teachers.
 
Friday 27th September
 
MUSIC VIDEO Research and Planning MUST BE COMPLETED. Marks will be deducted for late submission.


Monday 30th September – Friday 18th October
 
  • All filming of music videos to take place outside of lesson time
  • Teacher introduces digipak/website/advert (generic conventions, part of the campaign etc)
  • Research CD covers, band websites, magazine adverts – detailed annotation/analysis
  • Produce mock ups of ancillary products e.g. photos, drawings, collage, colour palette etc
 

Friday 18th October
 
DRAFT DEADLINE for digipak and magazine advert.
Work to be submitted with name(s) and candidate(s) numbers to English office. Marks will be deducted for late submission.

  
Mon 28th October – Friday 1st November
  • Complete 1st draft of music video including filming and editing.

Friday 1st November
 
DRAFT DEADLINE - 3:10PM ENGLISH OFFICE
  • Work to be submitted on DVD with name(s) and candidate(s) numbers to English office.
  • Draft video must be posted on blog. Students to be placed on intervention list if work not completed. Marks will be deducted for late submission.

Monday 4th November – Friday 8th November
  • Feedback on digipak and magazine advert to be returned to all students.
  • Make necessary improvements and complete final versions.

Friday 8th November
  • 3:10PM work to be submitted with name(s) and candidate(s) numbers to English office. Marks will be deducted for late submission. 

Monday 11th November – Friday 29th November
  • Teachers to have returned first draft marks/comments for music videos
  • Update blogs with 1st draft teacher feedback (will be essential for your evaluation)
  • Make plan of action for necessary improvements
  • Make improvements to music video
  • Finish filming/editing final copy of music video
  • Peer assessment and evaluate feedback. Update blog with feedback (will be essential for your evaluation).
  
FINAL CUT OF MUSIC VIDEO MUST BE COMPLETED BY FRIDAY 29th NOVEMBER 
Work to be submitted 3:10PM ENGLISH OFFICE on DVD with name(s) and candidate(s) numbers. Marks will be deducted for late submission.
 
 
Monday 2nd December – Friday 6th December
  • Evaluation questions introduced and taught. Examples shown.
  • All lessons devoted to completion of evaluation. Written essay format for each question to be completed this week and posted on blog.
  
Monday 9th December – Wednesday 11th December

• Plan and agree creative ways to present final version of evaluation.
  
 
Wednesday 11th December – Friday 20th December

• Answer all evaluation activities individually using a different creative media for each
  

FINAL EVALUATION DEADLINE FRIDAY 20TH DEC – WORK TO BE POSTED ONTO BLOG AND SIGNED FOR AT THE ENGLISH OFFICE TO INDICATE SUBMISSION. Marks will be deducted for late submission.
ALL COURSEWORK to be marked and marks submitted to NEF by Friday 24TH JANUARY 2014
